The health unit has lifted the drinking water advisory that was put in place for residents of part of Skead Road last week.
Public Health Sudbury and Districts (PHSD) said it has officially lifted the drinking water advisory that impacted residents of Skead Road from 139 Skead Rd to the north end of Old Skead Road, including Old Skead Road, Brighton, Krecko, Peacock, Sunderland, Cecil, Falcon, Gordon, Agnes, Patrica, and Sunny streets, who receive water from the City of Greater Sudbury drinking water system.
PHSD said the advisory came into place because of a temporary loss of pressure in the municipal water system caused by a water main break on April 10.
Health unit testing of the water following the line repair indicated that no adverse results were discovered.
Burgess Hawkins, a manager in the Public Health’s Health Protection Division said residents might notice chlorine odours and discoloured water, coming from their taps at home.
The health unit provided information on what to do after a drinking water advisory is lifted and before using the water:
- Run cold water faucets for five minutes or until the water runs clear.
- Run drinking fountains for five minutes before using the water or until the water runs cl
- Run water softeners through a regeneration cycle.
- Drain and refill hot water heaters.
Large-volume users (for example, schools) may need to run cold water taps longer on first use.
To get rid of sediment, faucet screens should be removed, rinsed and put back in place.
