The main beach at Bell Park has been deemed unsafe for swimming by the Sudbury and District Health Unit.

The warning went up after routine water samples exceeded the acceptable water quality for E. coli bacteria. According to the test results, all other beaches on Ramsey Lake remain safe for swimming.

Health Unit officials say they will continue to monitor the Ramsey Lake situation. Although this is not the first Sudbury beach closed due to E. coli, it is the first time a central location like Ramsey has been posted.
