A healthy eating seminar sponsored by the YMCA Sudbury and the Sudbury and District Health Unit will be offered twice this month.

The first session will be held Wednesday, Jan. 22 from 1 to 2:30 pm. The second session will be held Monday, Jan. 27 from 7 to 8:30 pm at the YMCA.

This free session basically outlines CanadaÂ?s Food Guide to Healthy Eating, highlighting the five basic principles of healthy eating.

The information is provided in a direct manner with the opportunity for small group activities and application of skills developed for healthy eating behaviour changes.

Members of the public can register at the YMCA Centre For Life or by contacting Julie at the health unit at 522-9200, ext. 379.

The YMCA is also sponsoring an Introduction to Vegetarianism course Thursday, Jan. 30 from 7 to 9:15 pm.

Topics include a vegetarian overview, using grains and legumes, using tofu and ingredient substitutions.

Plenty of samples will be served.

Registration deadline is Monday, Jan. 27. Cost is $5 for YMCA members and $10 for non-members.

The seminar will be co-hosted by the Northern Vegetarian Society and YMCA Sudbury.
