Grade 12 St. Charles College student Emma Jessop has been named the Sudbury Catholic District School Board's student trustee for the 2016-17 school year.

A press release said she has a “passion for the student voice” and recognizes the importance of young people taking an active role in their education.

In her year as student trustee, Jessop will be working closely with the Student Senate, focusing on key goals of making student government more accessible and effective as an instrument of change for SCDSB students.

“I am truly humbled and excited by this opportunity to represent the voice of the students at the school board table,” Jessop said.

The young woman will also assume an active role on the Ontario Student Trustee Association in the role of faith ambassador.

Her strong faith, dedication, excellent work ethic and approachable style will be a definite asset to the role, a press release said.
