What has close to 100 employers looking to court more than 2,000 students about to enter the job market?

It’s the annual Cambrian College Career Fair Conference, set for Tuesday, Feb. 4 at the BarryDowne Road main campus in Sudbury.

“Last year’s Career Fair Conference was such an amazing success, we knew right away this was going to be an annual event,” said Renee Scott, Cambrian College’s Director of Student Success and Recruitment, in a press release.

“Our conference is the largest of its kind in all of the region and such an amazing opportunity for students to meet potential employers and employers to scout talent.”

The conference will be held in the college’s gymnasium, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and feature booths from employers from all sectors, who are looking to hire. Students are encouraged to bring polished resumes and their best pitches.

“This event is a win-win for both employers and our students,” said Cambrian College president, Bill Best. “We’re hearing from industry about the demand for qualified talent eager to work, and we have students and graduates excited to enter the workforce with the skills they’ve learned from us.”

Returning this year to the Career Fair Conference is the Employer Award of Distinction.

With nominations from Cambrian staff including faculty, support and administrators, the award is given to an employer who demonstrates an exemplary contribution to student and/or graduate development through academic participation, work or experiential learning or training and/or professional development opportunities.

The 2020 nominees are:

  • Design de Plume, a graphic design and web design firm
  • Hard-Line Solutions, specializing in automated and remote-control mining equipment
  • International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 1687.
