Sudbury employers remain upbeat about staffing plans as the year draws to a close, according to the latest hiring survey by Manpower Inc., released today for the October-December period.

?As we approach the final months of the year,? said Gerry Cronin of Manpower, ?37 per cent of business respondents will expand their workforces this fall, while 17 per cent report plans to cut back. Another 46 per cent expect no change.?

New job opportunities are envisioned this fall in mining, transportation/public utilities and finance/insurance/real estate.

Construction firms plan reductions, while durable and non-durable goods manufacturers, wholesale/retail merchants and services employers voice mixed intentions.
