Sudbury.com is recognizing advanced care paramedic Adam Gear as today's Essential Worker of the Day.

Gear has been serving the City of Greater Sudbury as a paramedic for the past four years but has been a paramedic for eight years, having previously provided care to remote and underserved communities of the James Bay Coast.

Gear was nominated by his fiancée Vanessa Warren.

He is an incredibly compassionate individual who demonstrates genuine care for all of his patients of all walks of life," Warren said. "He is enthusiastic and passionate about his career, committed to furthering his knowledge and expertise on an ongoing basis through both informal and formal avenues."

"In September 2018, he went back to school to learn new skills and become certified as an advanced care paramedic through the ACP-F program at Cambrian College."

"Throughout this pandemic, he continues to provide quality care to his patients despite the uncertainty of being quite literally the frontlines, all while being adaptable to the changes being implemented for the safety of his patients, coworkers, and himself."

"I cannot wait to marry this man whose kind soul and big heart I’ve absolutely fallen in love with. I love you Adam!"
