For the seventh year in succession, Cambrian College Practical Nursing graduates were 100 per cent successful in licensing exams by the College of

Nurses of Ontario.
The graduates also surpassed the provincial averages in all categories of competencies tested, which included comprehension, application, critical thinking, professional, ethical and legal knowledge, and growth and development.

Marilyn McKinnon, co-ordinator of Cambrian?s Practical Nursing program, says the success is due to the students? hard work and nice balance between practical workplace experience and classroom theory.

?Today?s practical nurses are multi-skilled professionals who are educated to be leaders and advocates for patients,? said McKinnon.

?Our graduates are working in hospitals and nursing homes, in medical offices, with community nursing agencies, in psychiatric facilities, and in other health care settings. We continuously receive positive feedback from these employees on the skills and professionalism of our students.?

Great debate

Dr. Newdow is an emergency room physician in Sacramento, Ca. He also holds a law degree. He represented himself in the pledge lawsuit, which provoked widespread public criticism when it was upheld by the Ninth Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals last June.
