The Northern Cancer Foundation has announced the guest speaker for the 2017 Luncheon of Hope, which takes place Sept. 29.
Filmmaker, politician and breast cancer survivor Gerry Rogers will speak at the event.
She began filming her experience with breast cancer from the moment her hair started falling out from chemotherapy, creating the Gemini award-winning film "My Left Breast."
Rogers speaks with humour and kindness to audiences that have gone through, or are going through similar ordeals, who are helping loved ones fight their battles, and even those who have been lucky enough not to be touched by cancer.
“Breast cancer has touched us all in some way,” said Luncheon of Hope committee chair Meri-Lynn Butler in a press release.
“Our luncheon provides a forum on the far reaching effects of breast cancer, but more importantly gives our community the opportunity to join us in Investing in Hope.”
To date, the Luncheon of Hope has raised more than $780,000. With these funds, important breast-cancer research equipment has been purchased.
Tickets to the event are $60 each (includes a $30 charitable receipt) or corporate tables of 10 are available for $600 (includes a $300 charitable receipt).
