The City of Greater Sudbury has added the addresses of over 20 municipal washrooms to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada’s GoHere Washroom Locator App, as part of the national, non-profit GoHere Washroom Access Program.

Through the GoHere app, individuals living, working or visiting the city will be able to quickly locate accessible public washrooms, which is especially beneficial for those with inflammatory bowel disease.

The program was designed to improve the quality of life for the one in 140 Canadians living with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, who experience a range of symptoms, including the urgent need to access a washroom.

While designed with these two main types of inflammatory bowel disease in mind, this program will benefit individuals living with a variety of health conditions.

Municipal libraries, beaches, the Downtown Transit Centre and Tom Davies Square will all appear on the GoHere app, and have a GoHere decal posted at their location to encourage use by the public, said Mayor Brian Bigger in a press release.

The GoHere app is available on iPhone, Android and BlackBerry Touchscreen and acts as a digital access card indicating proof of medical need, when requesting access to a registered or unregistered washroom facility.
