Blaze displaces two people from their home

A structure fire at a single-family bungalow on Dublin Street in Sudbury this morning caused about $100,000 in damage, according to a press release from Greater Sudbury Fire Services.

The fire caused severe smoke damage and moderate fire damage. 

Firefighters were called to the scene at 8:09 a.m. Seventeen firefighters from three fire stations responded to the incident.

Two people were displaced by the fire. There were no injuries in the incident.

Updated at 9:15 a.m.: The platoon chief of Greater Sudbury Fire Services says today’s fire on Dublin Street appears to have started in the basement.

Mike Valiquette also told Sudbury.com that the fire, which was reported earlier this morning, was under control.

A neighbour told Sudbury.com he saw lots of smoke pouring from the home earlier. He also said the home’s two occupants were not at home at the time of the fire.

The platoon chief told Sudbury.com the GSFS has just arrived and information is limited at the moment. There are four fire truck at the fire now, with a single ambulance standing by.
