There’s one new forest fire burning in the northeast as of yesterday afternoon and the forest fire hazard near Greater Sudbury remains high.

Sudbury 26 is 0.2 hectares in size and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry reports that firefighters still haven’t brought it under control.

Besides Sudbury 26, there are still three other fires burning. Hearst 4 and Hearst 5 are under control and burning 475 hectares and 2574 hectares respectively. Wawa 7 is also under control and burning 294 hectares.

Besides Greater Sudbury and surrounding areas, the forest fire hazard ranges from low to moderate across most of the region.
