While there are no new forest fires burning across the northeast, the hazard situation in the region ranges from low to extreme, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is reporting.

The northern reaches of the region are at a relatively low risk of fire, the MNRF says, while the areas of most concern are the south and southeast portions of the region.

There are currently three active fires burning in the northeast. Hearst 4 and Hearst 5, the largest fires, are being held at 475 and 2,574 hectares, respectively.

Wawa 7 is not under control and is burning 294 hectares, but there has been no significant growth in the fire for the past few days.
