Former LU prof receives recognition

Karen Shaw, a former resident of Sudbury, who now resides in the town of Gore Bay, on Manitoulin Island was recently recognized by Laurentian University for her many contributions to this city.
Karen Shaw, a former resident of Sudbury, who now resides in the town of Gore Bay, on Manitoulin Island was recently recognized by Laurentian University for her many contributions to this city.

Shaw was a member of Laurentian UniversityÂ?s board of governors for many years and had the opportunity to teach as a faculty member. She also served as municipal and regional councillor from 1991 to 1997. Shaw was active member of many community organzations.

Following the completion of a Ph.D. in philosophy at Michigan State University in 1997, she left Sudbury to assume a position at Okanagan University College in Kelowna, B.C. In 2000, Shaw was diagnosed with a neurological illness and retired from her professional activities to Manitoulin Island.
