Former police chief gets new position

Former Sudbury police chief Richard Zanibbi has been named new board chair for the Manitoulin-Sudbury Community Care Access Centre.

Zanibbi, who retired from police work in the mid-1990s, was a founding member of the previous board and most recently served as vice-chair.

Jim Young also returns to the board as secretary-treasurer. Young, a Sudbury lawyer, originally joined the board in 1998.

Mariette McGregor-Sutherland, executive director of the Noojmowin Teg Health Centre on Manitoulin Island, has also been appointed to the board.

Residents of Sudbury and Manitoulin Island with an interest in community health care are invited to seek more information about becoming board members, said Zanibbi.

The position of interim executive director has been filled by Nancy Mongeon, former manager of professional services with the organization.

The MSCCAC provides a full range of home care services to clients across Manitoulin and Sudbury districts. Services include nursing, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, nutritional counselling, social work, homemaking, personal support, caregiver respite and co-ordination of placements in long-term and chronic care facilities.
