The four-laning of Hwy. 69 continues to move forward with the tendering of a contract to begin the next stage of work on the a section stretching from Sudbury to Estaire.

The project involves clearing of more than three kilometres of the new highway north of the Hwy. 537 intersection. The clearing will be completed this winter in preparation for the 2006 construction season.

?The McGuinty government continues to follow through on its commitment to four-lane Hwy. 69,? Sudbury MPP Rick Bartolucci said in a news release. ?Working on the section from Sudbury to Estaire is one of the priorities in the expansion of the highway. This project is very important to our government and to the residents of Northeastern Ontario for both economic and safety reasons.?

The work being undertaken is part of the Hwy. 69 Action Plan unveiled last year by Bartolucci and provides details on the commitment to complete the four-laning of the Hwy. 69 corridor in 12 years.
