Greater Sudbury Transit is helping keep the roads safer this holiday season with extended hours and free bus service after 10 pm on New YearÂ?s Eve.

Â?This New YearÂ?s Eve, citizens can travel from one end of our city to the other, absolutely free of charge on Greater Sudbury Transit,Â? said Greater Sudbury Mayor David Courtemanche.

Â?Greater Sudbury Transit wants to do its part to make sure everyone arrives home safe and alive. We urge anyone who is thinking of attending a New YearÂ?s Eve celebration to take advantage of this free service.Â?

On Dec. 31 between 10:15 pm and 3:15 am, buses will depart the downtown Transit Centre every 60 minutes at quarter past the hour for Sunday schedule urban routes in Sudbury.

Buses will depart the Transit Centre every two hours starting at 11:15 pm for Coniston, Garson, Falconbridge, Lively, Azilda, Chemsford, Hanmer, Val Caron and Capreol. Trans Cab hours will be extended to match bus service.

There will be no bus service on Christmas Day.
Bus service on Boxing Day and on New YearÂ?s Day, will follow the Sunday service schedule.
