Environment Canada has issued a weather alert for Greater Sudbury: there's a threat of some freezing rain beginning later tonight into Tuesday.

"A Colorado low is forecast to reach the Great Lakes on Tuesday," Environment Canada said in a news release. "Some winterey precipitation is expected to develop tonight ahead of this low. It may begin as snow or ice pellets but will likely change to some freezing rain either late tonight or Tuesday morning.

"It may linger for a few hours on Tuesday before changing to rain."

Untreated roads may become slippery. In addition to Northeastern Ontario, a freezing rain warning is in effect for much of eastern Ontario.
