The DaBaby concert scheduled for the Sudbury Community Arena on Friday has been cancelled “due to unforeseen circumstances.”
The City of Greater Sudbury issued a media release to that effect this afternoon, noting that refunds are now being offered.
Friday’s show was expected to be the American rapper’s first trek to Northern Ontario, and promoters Cabin Media Entertainment Group, represented by president Jeff Sebben, promoted it as a unique experience for the musician.
“He's played festivals,” Sebben told Sudbury.com in March. “He's never really been the headliner. So he's really looking forward to this and we're fortunate to bring the show to Sudbury, it's going to be a great time for everybody.”
Those who purchased their tickets on Visa, Visa Debit, Mastercard or American Express will be given a full refund automatically applied to that same card within the next five to 10 business days.
Those who purchased in-person at the box office with debit or cash must visit the Sudbury Arena at 240 Elgin Street to receive a full refund. The original tickets for the show must be presented to receive the refund and will only be provided to the original purchaser.
Box Office hours of operation are Monday to Friday, excluding holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
“Unforeseen circumstances” were also to blame for the cancellation of the Monster Spectacular show a few weeks ago, which came as a result of trucks being unable to cross the Canada/U.S. border.
Despite these recent cancellations, the city has noted that the Sheck Wes performance at The Grand, at 28 Elgin Street, is still on for Friday at 10 p.m.
