The Ontario SPCA Sudbury & District Animal Centre is holding its Friends for Life! Walk at Collège Boréal Sept. 23.

The walk is a major fundraiser for the Ontario SPCA and participating Affiliate Societies that will take place in 13 communities across Ontario, including Sudbury. It is presented by Petplan pet insurance.

Funds raised at the walk support programs and services provided by the Sudbury & District Animal Centre to the community. There is also a “virtual” walk option for those unable to attend an event in person.

“The Friends for Life! Walk is a fun way for you to give back to your community by helping animals in need,” said Jen Hughes, Manager, Sudbury & District Animal Centre, in a press release.

“Even if you don’t have a pet, we encourage you to register now and starting raising funds for your local Ontario SPCA animal centre or humane society.”

More than just a fundraising walk, the Friends for Life! Walk is a fun-filled day that offers something for everyone.

Registration for the Sudbury walk begins at 9 a.m. Sept. 23, and the walk kicks of at 10 a.m. It’s the “purr-fect” way to spend a day with friends and family who share a love of animals.

“We can’t do this alone, which is why we need you to go the extra mile to help vulnerable animals,” said Hughes. “By participating in the Friends for Life! Walk and collecting pledges, you are giving vulnerable animals the care and second chance they deserve.”
