Sudbury's Fibromyalgia Support Group holds its International Fibromyalgia Awareness Day Extravaganza May 28.

The event takes place starting at 5 p.m. at the Lexington Hotel (formerly the Howard Johnson). The theme this year is “Funny Feast.”

It will be a full evening, starting with a buffet dinner of roast beast and chicken, a serenade by Celtic harpist Emily Weber, followed by a live auction. Local businesses have really stepped up for this year's event, contributing more than $6,500 toward the live auction.

TNT Auctions is providing their auctioneering expertise.

Following the auction, the Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School improv team will take the stage to show their skills at off-the-cuff comedy. Nothing will be planned or scripted, but the comedy is promised to be hilarious.

The headline act is Robert Simoneau, a favourite of Sudbury's comedy scene. There will also be opportunities to win prizes just by showcasing your own comedy talents.

Tickets to the event cost $70 for two and $300 for a table of eight.

They're available at Village International, Korner Konfectionary, Refined Consignment, Mojoverse, All The Rage Salon, Double Frosted, Fiddleheads, Wellness Shoppe and Tin Can Alley.

The Sudbury Fibromyalgia Support Group meets the second and fourth Wednesday of every month including summer at 720 Bruce Ave., the Balmoral apartment building in Sudbury.

The first meeting is an afternoon meeting from noon until 2 while the second meeting runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Members discuss having and coping with fibromyalgia while doing so in a safe, fun and inclusive environment.
