The Ontario Trillium Foundation has announced that communities in Greater Sudbury, Manitoulin, Algoma, and Cochrane will benefit form grants totalling $621,000.

About 40 per cent of the grant funds will be directed towards three agencies in Sudbury.

The Sudbury branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association will receive $100,000 over two years to continue to provide telephone pre-crisis peer support to people suffering mental health difficulties.

The Sudbury Summerfest Foundation will get a grant of $25,000 over six months to support Summerfest 2002, a weekend family festival promoting accessibility awareness.

Sudbury and District Participation Projects will receive $100,000 over two years to establish an after-school program for teenagers with physical disabilities. The grant will allow these teenagers the opportunity to socialize and develop the skills needed for independent living as adults.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation is an agency of the Ministry of Culture. It receives annually $100 million in government funding grants generated throughout OntarioÂ?s charity casinos.
