Garson Express wants to take the delivery business in Sudbury to the next level.
The company first began as a food delivery service and quickly expanded into a jack-of-all-trades delivery service. There are plans to open another delivery service in North Bay in the fall.
What makes Garson Express unique, according to owner/operator Michael LeBlond, is it offers competitive pricing on renovation building material, pickup and delivery.
“When it comes to building supplies, that is where it’s going to make us more unique than what the others are doing,” he said. “I’ve done my research on the building supplies business.”
For building materials, the service will extend outside Sudbury, he said. Materials will be delivered on the same day as ordered. Espanola, Noelville and Alban residents can also take advantage of the delivery service.
The company also delivers food to restaurants, renovation materials to homeowners, parcels, auto parts, flowers, and will soon offer liquor delivery once they get a licence for next fall. Food and liquor deliveries will be made within an hour.
“It really depends how you tackle the market,” LeBlond said. “How fast are you?
“It’s all about keeping the customer. You want to keep it within the hour.”
His company has contracts with King’s Buffet, Little Caesars, Pita Pit, Cranky Joe’s, Papa Lou’s, Teklenburgs and Joey’s Only.
“I appreciate and value the existing businesses,” LeBlond said.
The rates for delivery start at $5 and depend on the distance. They will deliver to anywhere in the city, from Garson to the South End.
The company has five employees. They use vans and vehicles from sub-contracted drivers for delivery. So far, his customers are happy with the service provided, he said.
LeBlond used to be in the janitorial business. Last year, his partner, Don Desroshes, called him and asked if he’d like to try the delivery business.
“It’s been an interesting ride,” LeBlond said.
Garson Express is open from Monday to Thursday, from 10 am to 10 pm, and Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 11 pm. The company may be contacted at 693-3033.
