People who park downtown can expect some parking lot interruptions for a little more than a week as geotechnical and soil condition tests for The Junction continue.

Four parking spaces in the Minto Street Lot (across from the Sudbury Community Arena) and the Elgin Street/CP Rail Lot will be occupied by contractors from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., beginning Thursday, June 13 for around 10 days.

Results of the testing will inform the next steps for the new preferred site for The Junction, and will also assist in future development of these sites.

The Junction combines two of city council’s large projects, the Library/Art Gallery and the Greater Sudbury Convention and Performance Centre.

This project envisions the redevelopment of two city blocks in Greater Sudbury’s historic downtown, where people will gather and connect, share ideas and inspire creativity, said a press release.
