With frustration over hydro bills at an all-time high, Green Economy North is gathering the experts to help local businesses find ways to save money.

Understanding Your Hydro Bill - and what to do about it! will take place on Jan. 23. It's being hosted by Green Economy North, Sudbury’s sustainability program for business. Participants will learn more about the charges on their bills, and where they can make changes that will save them money.

This event is the latest in the program’s sustainable business workshop series, designed to support Sudbury businesses transition to the low carbon economy.

Cutting back on electricity usage is a great place start, said Richard Eberhardt, program manager for Green Economy North, in a news release.

“We hear from our members: when the hydro bill comes, the profits go,” Eberhardt said. “Energy is not a luxury expense, and many business owners watch the costs increase and feel powerless. What many don’t know is there are some simple ways to cut back on these bills, saving money and reducing our community’s demand for electricity at the same time.”

Green Economy North is hosting presenters from Greater Sudbury Hydro, Hydro One, and the Sudbury Chamber of Commerce to share their expertise. Business operators will learn what aspects of a hydro bill are in their control, and will hear about incentives and projects that can reduce day-to-day operating costs. Sudbury-based energy management and renewable energy providers will also be onhand to present the latest energy-saving technology.

The event will run 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the TownePlace Suites at 1710 Kingsway. Lunch is included, and seats are limited. For more information, or to purchase tickets for the event, visit greeneconomynorth.ca
