Man sent to hospital after stabbing on Bruce St.

A 20-year-old man was sent to hospital after being stabbed at a Bruce Street home at around 2:15 a.m. March 18. The victim remains in hospital in stable condition.

Anyone living in or visiting the neighbourhood that may have witnessed anything related to this incident is asked to contact Greater Sudbury Police, as is anyone with relevant security footage. This stabbing is believed to be an isolated incident and not a random act.  

'Unsanctioned street party' on Riverside Dr. cancelled after police catch up with organizers

Greater Sudbury Police say they've caught up with the organizers of what they're calling an “unsanctioned street party” on Riverside Drive, and that event is now cancelled. You may have noticed social media posts about a St. Patrick's Day party that was supposed to happen on Riverside Drive, a mostly residential street located close to the downtown. We found one on the UMentioned Laurentian anonymous Facebook message board.

“Through investigations, the organizer of the party was identified and spoken to,” police said in a notice circulated this weekend to Riverside Drive residents.

Ontario NDP platform to include pharmacare, dental benefits for all workers

Ontario's New Democrat leader says her platform will include improved public services, deprivatizing Hydro One and universal benefits for workers.

Andrea Horwath told supporters at a party event on Saturday that voters can expect to see the full platform in the coming weeks. Horwath says if it's elected, the NDP would implement universal pharmacare and dental coverage for workers, stop cuts to health care and convert student loans into grants. 

Watoto Children's Choir visits Sudbury

The Watoto Children's Choir performed its Signs and Wonders at two local churches Sunday. The choir is made up of 18 Ugandan children ages seven to 12 years old.

Watoto means "children" in Swahili language. The choir is made up of children who have lost one or both parents.The choir travels the world with a team of adults who look after the children and also manage the day-to-day affairs of the tour on the road.

Paw Patrol is on a roll at the New Sudbury Centre!

The New Sudbury Centre was milling with hundreds of tots who are fans of the smash-hit Canadian animated television series “Paw Patrol” Friday and Saturday.

For those without toddlers in their lives, the series focuses on a boy named Ryder who leads a pack of search and rescue dogs known as the Paw Patrol. We hit the mall's centre court Saturday morning as families waited their turn to get their pictures taken with 'Paw Patrol' characters Chase and Skye.

Sudburian wins free Timmies coffee for a year through RRRoll Up the Rim to Win 

By rrrolling up the rim of his Tim Hortons cup, Pierre Laliberte of Sudbury is now the winner of Tim Hortons Free Coffee for Year, a new addition to this year’s RRRoll Up the Rim to Win contest at Tim Hortons.

Sunny but windy and cold weather to start the work week

Spring might be just around the corner, but it's going to be pretty cold Monday morning, so bundle up. It will be mainly sunny with a high of -6 C, but the wind is going to be blow at speeds of up to 15 km/h, making the temperature feel more like -25 C with the windchill.

Monday night will be clear with a low of -20 C.
