Gouged at the pump? Time to complain, Thibeault says

“That’s why in November, I requested that Canada’s Competition Bureau undertake an investigation into the retail price of gas in Sudbury to confirm what so many of us had long suspected — that gas prices in our community were being artificially inflated," Thibeault said. "Unfortunately, due to a low volume of complaints, the bureau stated an investigation was not warranted at that time.”

Thibeault is hoping his new endeavour will spur more community reaction and an influx of complaints that will pressure the Competition Bureau into a much-needed investigation.
“The website is not about the prices," Thibeault said. "The website encourages people to take action. They can click on that directly and fill out a form that’ll be sent directly to the Competition Bureau.
"By sending it directly, they’ll actually entice the Competition Bureau to realize we have way too many people here in Sudbury that are complaining about gas prices, and we need an investigation to ensure that we keep our prices fair.”

Sudbury residents can add their name to the list of disgruntled drivers with a visit to sudburygasprices.ca.
