March of Dimes is hosting a 3 on 3 road hockey tournament Aug. 13 to support the construction of a second supportive housing unit at 2915 Bancroft drive for survivors of acquired brain injury.
Long Lake playground will be the site of some road hockey action and the tournament will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Not a hockey player? Not a problem, as March of Dimes is also seeking volunteers to assist in making sure the tournament runs smoothly.
A variety of volunteer roles are available to staff or consumers and include: preparation, fundraising, registration/donation/raffle tables, BBQing, time-keeping, etc.
Start a team of anywhere between six and 10 friends, registration fee is $100 and will include a guaranteed three games, lunch, refreshments and raffle tickets.
Additional raffle tickets may be purchased at tournament.
Everyone is also invited to attend tournament banquet, even if you can't register a team or attend the tournament, you can join everyone at the tournament banquet at Taphouse Northern Grill & Pub from 7 p.m. - 12 a.m.
Tickets are $5 and must be purchased in advance.
The tournament will include raffle draws to raise funds in addition to registration fees, banquet tickets and the barbecue.
“We are currently looking for additional prizes to raffle. Any contributions will help,” said a news release from March of Dimes.
