Grandma Margot, who gained social media attention for her diet of almost nothing but Kraft Dinner while a resident of St. Joseph's Continuing Care Centre, passed away earlier today, according to a Facebook post from her granddaughter, Jenny Labrosse.

She was either 83 or 84.

"My best friend, my rock, my world, my constant source of strength and support and the strongest woman I have ever known," Labrosse wrote. "I am so glad you are no longer suffering and in pain. You held my hand during the best moments of my life and I held yours during your last.

"Until we meet again, I will carry you with me everywhere I go."

It was an earlier Facebook post from Labrosse on May 11 that brought her grandmother, who had been fighting cancer, to internet fame and the attention of Kraft Canada.

Margot had been losing weight rapidly and didn't have much of an appetite, and as a result her health was deteriorating rapidly.

"I just went in to visit her one day in February and I brought a little microwavable cup of ravioli and a cup of Kraft Dinner," Labrosse told Sudbury.com earlier this month. "They're simple and fast make, easy to chew and swallow. She ate the Kraft Dinner and she loved it."

Since that day, the little cups of KD became a staple of Margot's diet and the family had been delivering case after case of the cheesy noodles to her at St. Joseph's.

That is when Kraft Canada reached out to Labrosse and asked for her grandmother's favourite KD flavour and her mailing address. The company eventually sent Margot 13 cases of the microwavable delicacy.

According to a Facebook post from Labrosse yesterday, Margot's health had worsened over the past two weeks. She had been bedridden and had lost her appetite.

The family is asking for donations to the St. Joseph's Continuing Care Centre or the Maison McCulloch Hospice. The family will not be holding a funeral or visitation in keeping with Margot's wishes.

The uneaten Kraft Dinner will also be donated, according to Labrosse's post.
