If you're a secret (or not so secret) fan of the nearly four-decade-old Canadian drama franchise Degrassi, you'll definitely want to attend Graphic-Con at the Sudbury Arena on June 10.

That's because Degrassi stars Stacie Mistysyn and Kirsten Bourne Kelly will be the guests of honour at the event.

They played Caitlin Ryan and Tessa Campanelli, respectively, on Degrassi Junior High and Degrassi High, which ran in the 1980s and 1990s.

Other guests at the event include local zombie portrait artist Rob Sachetto, cartoonist and illustrator Tom Fowler, filmmaker and storyteller Scott Sawyer and stuntman James Eddy.

Graphic-Con 2017 offers more than eight hours of panels, workshops, scheduled games, art, a stage with pop culture events, a costume contest and more — all included in the price of admission.

“Graphic-Con is a non-profit fun and affordable Con for Northern Ontario. Graphic-Con is meant to encourage fan culture, literacy through graphic-novels and comic books and other pop-culture mediums,” so says the description on the event's Facebook page.

“Our goal is to bring together fans of all ages and types into an affordable Con experience. Whether you appreciate comics, Star Trek, Star Wars, anime, Dr Who, Homestuck, zombies, gaming, steampunk, or something else – we’ve got something for you.”

The event runs 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.

Tickets are $5 and free for children under the age of 12.

Purchase them online at graphiccon.com (additional fees apply) or at the Sudbury Arena Box Office.
