Grateful mom thanks motorists who stopped to help after she hit a bear on Radar Road

Jolene Hill said she had her two small children in the vehicle during collision

Jolene Hill said she wants to thank a brother and sister by the names of Jeanine and André who stopped and helped her family after their pick-up truck collided with a bear Saturday.

The collision occurred at around 9 p.m. on Aug. 18 on Radar Road. The full-grown bear passed away as a result of the impact, and the family's vehicle sustained heavy damage.

But fortunately, Jolene, husband Mike and their two small children, Maverick, 11 months, and Mason, 3, were not injured in the collision.

Hill said that Jeanine and André stopped, took the family into their vehicle and calmed the toddlers down. Then they drove the family home, even though it was out of their way.

“Jeanine and Andre were so great,” she said. “Just scooping up the kids and getting them in our truck. I was beside myself because you've got your little kids … This is absolutely terrifying for us.

“These guys were so great. They got us calmed down. They got my boys happy, singing songs.”

Jeanine also comforted her older son, who was upset that the bear had died.

By coincidence, Hill said her husband Mike works at the same company as Jeanine's husband Marc, so she hopes to connect with the motorists who helped them in the near future.

“We plan taking them a nice little thank you after we get all sorted out,” she said.
