Power was restored to Grandview, Chestnut, Moss, Beaumont, Davenport and Barrydowne early this afternoon, and the company expects Cardinal, Normandy and the east side of Montrose to be restored shortly.

"We also anticipate the rest of Agincourt, the west side of Montrose, and Kipling will follow in hours," said a release from Greater Sudbury Hydro and they are still confident that they can get all the lines up and power back on by the weekend.

Greater Sudbury Hydro has received about 50 ESA authorizations to reconnect homes that have had repairs done to their masts.

There may be at least another 50 or more homes that will need a licensed electrician to repair their masts and an ESA inspection and authorization before their homes can be energized.

Customers are being urged to check their masts, and if there is and doubt, call an electrician now, to minimize the delay in getting power back on in your home.

Also, be sure all stoves, ovens, irons, curling and flat irons and any other electrically powered heating equipment are turned off or unplugged before the power is restored.

The same for sensitive electronic equipment. It could be damaged by a power surge; better to unplug beforehand.

The city of greater Sudbury has made arrangements for the disposal of spoiled food.

Please call 311 for information and to make arrangements.
