Greater Sudbury residents may receive a phone call from Greater Sudbury Hydro in the near future, as the utility is kicking off a phone campaign to promote its Affordability Fund Program.
“The Affordability Fund helps people lower their electricity use, and therefore costs,” said Wendy Watson, the communications director at GSH. “Anyone in Ontario who has an electricity account, whether they own or rent, can enroll. And this program is specifically for people who do NOT qualify for low-income support programs, so even if you have a higher income, you will likely receive some energy-saving upgrades.”
Watson said by enrolling, some GSH customers received “everything from attic insulation to ENERGYSTAR appliances to Home Energy Kits. What you receive depends upon your personal circumstances and the amount of electricity you currently use.”
You can call yourself to register for the Affordability Fund, using the toll-free number 1-855-494-FUND (3863) or you can visit AffordabilityFund.org .
GSH said in a news release, that whether you call them or they call you, an agent will ask a few questions, and will advise you if you will be receiving the basic Home Energy kit or qualify for a visit from a Home Energy Advisor who can make a decision on what other upgrades might apply to you.
