In honour of National Volunteer Week 2019, held April 7-13, Laurentian University Alumni Association (LUAA) announced that it had surpassed the halfway mark of its one million hours of volunteerism initiative.

The initiative was launched in Nov. 2016, with the goal of improving relationships between alumni and the university. Anyone interested in building a stronger community in and beyond campus is welcome to participate, including Laurentian alumni, students, staff, faculty and friends.

“We know Laurentian alumni and friends are volunteering many hours to improve their communities," said Tracy MacLeod, Chief Advancement Officer at Laurentian University.

"This initiative is an incredible way to recognize all of the great things that our graduates are doing around the world."

LUAA invites the Laurentian community to keep the momentum going and help them reach their goal of one million hours by Dec. 31, 2019.

Hours can be collected by helping raise funds for a charitable organization, taking part in a charitable event, or by becoming a board member, coach or Big Brother/ Sister. Click here to create and account and start logging your hours.
