Schools often have visitors come in to visit the students and maybe impart a little wisdom or life lesson.

Students at a school in Hanmer got just such a visitor today, although of a slightly different variety.

Greater Sudbury Police were called out to a Hanmer school (although GSPS wouldn’t tell Sudbury.com exactly which school it was) after a moose became trapped in the school yard.

“Out of concern for the well-being of everyone involved including the animal, police contained the area, the MNR was contacted and with their assistance,” police said in an Instagram post.

Kaitlynn Dunn with GSPS communications said the animal was tranquilized and relocated to a wooded area to recover from the ordeal.
