Huntington University will host a presentation on healthy brain aging, and the impact of respiratory fitness on vascular regulation in older adults on Thursday, June 5.
Dr. Marc J. Poulin, a professor of physiology at the University of Calgary, will discuss the changes that take place in the brain circulation and cognition with advancing age, and the beneficial effects exercise has on these outcomes.
Poulin's seminar will also review the role of exercise in populations at risk of age-related diseases of the brain, such as stroke, mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer’s disease. He will talk about the most current guidelines and recommendations for the quantity and quality of physical activity for brain health in older adults.
The presentation will take place at Huntington University's social centre at 10 a.m.
