The death of an 18-month-old boy at a home on Louis Street is under investigation by the Office of the Chief Coroner.

Regional supervising coroner David Cameron said a post-mortem examination on the child was conducted today at Health Sciences North.

Greater Sudbury Police Service communications officer Kaitlyn Dunn said officers responded to a call of an unconscious child at the Louis Street home at about 4 p.m. on Sept. 13. The child was transported to Health Sciences North, where he was pronounced dead.

The Louis Street community is in mourning today, said June Davis, director of the Louis Street Community Association.

“It's heartbreaking,” she said. “We've been talking about it today, and it's taking its toll.”
