There have been numerous collisions on Sudbury roads since Wednesday, with three of the collisions involving pedestrians.

Lasalle Boulevard has been a magnet for collisions in the past few days, with three separate incidents occurring since Wednesday afternoon. At around 1:35 on Oct. 11, officers were called to a collision at the intersection of Lasalle and Rose Marie Avenue.

A pair of pedestrians were struck on Lasalle on Friday, Oct. 13, in two different collisions.

Early this morning, a 42-year-old woman was taken to hospital after her morning walk was interrupted when she was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Lasalle and Notre Dame Avenue. The woman was in the crosswalk at the time, and police say that the driver that struck her had failed to yield.

The woman suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries and the driver was charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

This afternoon, at around 2:15 p.m., another pedestrian was struck, this time at the intersection of Lasalle and Falconbridge. The woman was transported to Health Sciences North by EMS and the extent of her injuries are unknown at this time.

A 50-year-old male cyclist was taken to hospital after being involved in a collision in the city's west end this afternoon.

Greater Sudbury Police attended the scene of a collision involving a cyclist at the intersection of Victoria Street and Eyre Street. The cyclist was transported to Health Sciences North for precautionary reasons and officers remain at the scene for an investigation.

Highway 17 has been closed for the second time in as many days, as a serious collision between the bypass and Coniston halted traffic in both directions on Oct. 13.

GSPS tweeted at around 5:05 p.m. that the road will remain closed in both directions for several hours. A detour is in place and police are asking that motorists follow the signs.

On Oct. 12, Highway 144 near Cote Avenue was jammed up after collision. Police reported some minor injuries to those involved in the collision and the roadway was cleared after about an hour.

Highway 17 was closed for a short time near Wahnapitae on Oct. 13. The collision occurred in the eastbound lane between Robinson Drive and Mill Road.

The highway had to be temporarily closed at around 12:10 p.m. and was re-opened at around 1:40 p.m. There are no reports of injuries at this time.
