Here's a taste of what Sudbury.com will be working on this week:

Diabetes Association of Canada announcement: One in three Canadians lives with diabetes or prediabetes (that’s a staggering 11 million). It takes an enormous toll on our health. As such. the Canadian Diabetes Association will be making a major announcement in Sudbury on Monday morning.

Ronald McDonald House: HSN unveils the new Ronald McDonald House family room on Monday morning. The grand opening means families with children in the NEO Kids pediatrics and neonatal intensive care units at HSN now have access to a “home away from home” just steps away from where their child is being treated. We’ll be there to report on it.

Sudbury Wolves: The Pack gears up to play the Soo Greyhounds on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m. Then, the Wolves play host to the North Bay Battalion on Friday night, with the puck drop at 7 p.m., and the Niagara IceDogs on Sunday. Game time is 2 p.m. 

Speaking of the Wolves: The Sudbury Wolves will reveal details on Monday for the upcoming Superhero game to take place on the Family Day Long weekend. On Feb. 19, the Wolves host St. Louis Bar & Grill Superhero Jersey afternoon in support of the NEO Kids Foundation as they battle the Niagara IceDogs. The Wolves will wear special superhero jerseys that will be auctioned off silently throughout the game to raise money for the NEO Kids Foundation. 

Junction Creek Subwatershed study: The City of Greater Sudbury is inviting residents to the first of a series of public consultation sessions for the Junction Creek subwatershed study. The first event is on Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. At the McClelland Community Centre in Copper Cliff. Sudbury.com will be there. The Junction Creek subwatershed study is the second of three studies currently underway. The Ramsey Lake subwatershed study started in 2016. The Whitewater Lake subwatershed study has been awarded, and preparation is underway. 

NOSM open house: Are you curious about what happens at Northern Ontario's very own medical school? Here's your big chance to find out. The Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) is throwing open its doors on Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. Sudbury.com will be there. Guests will be able to tour and engage in activities in NOSM’s Health Sciences Library and try out medical equipment, such as laparoscopes. There's much more in store.

Mentoring event for First Nations students: Seventy local First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Youth from the Rainbow District School Board will be participate in a local Skills Ontario First Nations, Métis, and Inuit-focused Mentoring event on Wednesday. The event will introduce students to different career paths in the skilled trades and technologies, as well as networking and other employability skills. Youth will meet mentors currently working in the skilled trades and technologies, and explore a range of skills and hands-on activities. Mentors from Cambrian College, Gezhtoojig Employment and Training, and others will be present.

Black History celebrations: The Afro-Heritage Association of Sudbury welcomed more than 200 guests to the Caruso Club Saturday evening to celebrate Black History Month. Guest speaker for the event was Debbie Barnard, vice-president of Process Improvement, Quality and Patient Safety at Health Sciences North.  Association acting president Charles Nyabese said the event is a chance to network and for the rest of the community to know what the association is about. Helping to spread warmth: The Rotary Club of Sudbury Sunrisers spent a few hours Sunday hanging winter coats on posts throughout downtown Sudbury to kick off Random Acts of Kindness Week. This is the third year for the Coats and Coffee campaign, which also provides a free cup of coffee from Old Rock. For the story, click here.
