Greater Sudbury is the only city in Ontario where residents can?t buy booze at LCBO stores on Civic Holiday.
?Our intent is to open our stores to provide as much service as we can, but we always defer to the local bylaws of the city,? said LCBO spokesperson
Chris Layton.
?The only city where we?re not able to open stores on the Civic Holiday as a result of a bylaw in the community is Sudbury.?
The LCBO was advised of the bylaw change by the city in writing once council made their final decision July 13.
According to city solicitor Ron Swiddle, the only LCBO stores that were prohibited from opening on Civic Holiday were those in the old city of Sudbury and Capreol.
Brewer?s Retail Stores won?t be open Monday either, but those in need of a few cold ones can satisfy their thirst at Northern Brewery on Lorne Street from 9 am to 11 pm.
