Homeless Awareness Day is Wednesday

The Task Force on Emergency Shelters and Homelessness will hold its second annual Homelessness Awareness Day this Wednesday, Sept. 17, from 9 am to 4 pm at Market Square in downtown Sudbury.

There will be displays by community provides from 9 am to 4 pm.

At 10 am, Janet Gasparini, executive director of the Social Planning Council of Sudbury and Lise Sénécal, executive durector of L'Association des jeunes de la rue will speak. They will be followed by Sudbury Mayor Jim Gordon, Fern Cormier, representing the MP Diane Marleau, Gary McMahon, representing Ray Bonin, Nickel Belt MP and Sudbury MPP Rick Bartolucci.

From 11 am to 2 pm there will be a barbecue free of charge for everyone.

Homelessness Awareness Day has a mandate to offer service providers an opportunity to raise public awareness of their mission, values and related activities.
