Honouring Great Aunt Bea: 7-year-old forgoes birthday gifts, gives to Hospice instead

Connor Monahan's aunt passed away at Maison Vale Hospice this past spring

Seven-year-old Connor Monahan recently donated $320 to Maison Vale Hospice in honour of his Great Aunt Bea, who passed away at the hospice this past spring.

He also shared some art, depicting what the hospice means to his family. The hospice shared Connor's story on its Facebook page recently.

“Hi, My name is Connor Monahan and I am seven years old,” Connor reportedly told hospice staff.

“My Great Aunt Bea McDonald was in the hospice and passed away April 25, 2016. She had been sick since Christmas. You have a very nice place. Thank you for the cookies and having a fun playroom to play.

“I had a birthday a few months ago and I decided I did not want presents but wanted to collect money to help Aunt Bea and the hospice. My mom always talked about the hospice and said it was a great place to go when you are really sick. I was able to collect $320. Thank you for taking such great care of my Great Aunt Bea.”

“Thank YOU Connor,” the hospice said in the post to its Facebook page. “What an honour it is to have met you, your Aunt Bea and your family.”
