Sudbury Regional Hospital (HRSRH) held its annual volunteer appreciation dinner April 22 at the Caruso Club.
The annual event was held to recognize the efforts of all 600 of the volunteers who give of their time to the hospital to enhance patient care. The annual dinner takes place every year in celebration of National Volunteer Week.
"Our volunteers play an important role in the health of our community by being part of our vital volunteer team," said Francoise Roussel, co-ordinator of volunteer services.
"The HRSRH would like to thank all of our volunteers for their continued commitment and dedication to both the hospital and the patients they serve."
At this year's dinner, there was a special presentation to 11 volunteers who have given more than 10,000 hours of their time volunteering at the HRSRH. Their combined service amounts to an astonishing 204,300 hours, or the equivalent of 23.3 full years.
The volunteers included: Art Chevrier, Peter Penttila, Jeannine Michel, Estelle St. Laurent, Lorraine Watier, Marjorie Gardner, Réjeanne Brosseau, Daniel Tessier, Alan Veldhuyzen, Paul Boutin and Jeannette Tremblay.
