Sudbury Regional Hospital (HRSRH) is warning post-secondary students of the dangers of crossing the line between responsible drinking and unhealthy excess during Spring Break.

HRSRH medical director of Emergency Department Dr. Chris Bourdon said binge-drinking keeps hospitals busy during the break.

?Unfortunately we do see an increased incidence of alcohol-related ilnesses and trauma at this time of year ? along with with September and grad, it's a peak time,? Bourdon said in a written release.

He said binge-drinking impairs judgement and causes injuries and sometimes death.

Bourdon suggests that if college and university students do drink, they know when to stop.

According to a hospital press release, binge-drinking is typically defined as the consumption of more than four drinks for women, and five for men, during a drinking episode.
