Housing prices and sales are up in Greater Sudbury.

The average residential price for a home in Sudbury during the month of September 2002 was $109,697 as compared to $104,391 during the same month last year.

According to figures released by the Sudbury Real Estate Board, the year-to-date price for the third quarter of 2002 averages $111,931, which again is up slightly from last year?s figure of $108,477.

The top selling areas are New Sudbury (average sale price $124,829), Valley East ($110,229), West End ($87,650) and Lockerby ($184,093).

Additionally, an extra 165 residential homes have been sold this year compared to last year.

A group of business people heard last week that the average price of housing in Sudbury in 1987 was $67.000 compared with $110,000 in 2001.
