Kochar's body was discovered by a group of hunters a few hundred metres down Trout Lake Rd. off of Highway 69 on Dec. 27.

A news conference led by Greater Sudbury Police Chief Ian Davidson was called Friday to announce the body's identification.

Police say the death is being treated as highly suspicious, but they're waiting on further forensic evidence about how Kochar died before declaring the case a homicide.

Since her disappearance, Kochar's husband, a prominent Sudbury doctor, and her three children have made several public appeals for her safe return.
