As Huntington University celebrates 60 years as a leader in post-secondary education in Northern Ontario, the university is looking to connect and hear from graduates and alumni from the past.

“We’re celebrating an amazing history here at Huntington,” said Thomas Barker, Huntington University Alumni Association President.

“Our great legacy comes in huge part because of the amazing students that walked our halls and pursued their education as proud Huntington graduates over the past six decades.”

Huntington University opened in 1960 and was one of the first post-secondary establishments in Northern Ontario. In 1961, the university recognized its first two graduates, Mary Conroy and Charles Johnson. The first class of graduates was celebrated a couple of years later, in 1963.

Huntington University will be commemorating the 60th anniversary milestone throughout 2020.

“Marking our 60th anniversary during a global pandemic poses some challenges, but we are dedicated to finding creative ways to acknowledge and celebrate our 60^th anniversary,” said Dr. Kevin McCormick, Huntington University’s President and Vice-Chancellor.

“As such, we are hoping to re-connect with past graduates, especially some of the ones from our first decade. As we plan activities to commemorate our history, it would be wonderful to be able to include as many graduates as possible, in as many ways as possible.”

If you attended Huntington University or know someone who did, Huntington University is hoping to hear from you as they plan their 60th anniversary.
