To mark World Energy Day on Oct. 22, working people and small business owners from Sudbury and beyond are invited to gather to protest hydro rates, and to raise food bank donations for those who can no longer afford them.

“Every day, we’re hearing about more and more people who are having to decide whether they want heat or whether or they want to eat,” said Hydro One Not For Sale member Felicia Fahey. “That’s not a decision anybody should ever have to make.”

Saturday’s rally will start at noon at Downe Playground (1299 Gemmell St.). Speakers will include MPP France Gélinas, and representatives from Hydro One Not For Sale, OPSEU, CUPE, and the Sudbury District Labour Council. All attendees are strongly urged to bring healthy food donation for local food banks.

After the rally, attendees will march to the office of Ontario Energy Minister Glenn Thibeault (555 Barrydowne Rd.)
