Imagine yourself in Ontario?s mining industry

RockON, a bilingual magazine and website ( www.rock-on.

RockON, a bilingual magazine and website (www.rock-on.ca) about career opportunities in OntarioÂ?s mining industry, was launched in the fall, going out to students in high schools across Northern Ontario and to guidance counsellors throughout the province.

Within RockON is an application form for three $1,000 scholarships to students interested in pursuing a career in the Ontario mining industry.

To qualify, students must reside in and attend a high school in Ontario and be intent on pursuing a career in mining or a mining-related field through an apprenticeship, college or university program.

Students must be attending full-time studies or completing final credits toward a high school diploma. Scholarships will not necessarily be awarded to students with the highest marks. We are looking for well-rounded students who have thoughtfully demonstrated their interest in a future career in the mining industry.

An independent panel of judges will evaluate all applications. Fill in the entire application form including the contact information and name of one guidance counsellor or teacher, and information on your current grades. Write a 200 to 300-word essay explaining your interest in the mining industry.

The deadline for applications is Feb. 28.

RockON was published by Northern Ontario Business with support from the Ontario Mining Association, the Mining Industry Training and Advisory Council (MITAC), mining companies, mining suppliers, governments and post-secondary institutions.
