‘Impressive applications’: Northern Ontario students among recipients of Desjardins bursaries

Desjardins Ontario Credit Union recently handed out 25 bursaries of $1,000 to students in Ontario.

Of the recipients, six were from Northern Ontario.

They were selected from more than 650 candidates who submitted an application to Desjardins Ontario Credit Union. 

“We received impressive applications from students who stand out for their involvement in the community and their perseverance,” said William Boucher, General Manager and Chief Operation Officer at Desjardins Ontario Credit Union.

“I am very grateful to have received this scholarship, which will benefit me in my studies,” said Patrick Yasko, one of the recipients. He is currently completing an Honours BA at Laurentian University in classical music with a minor in English literature.

These bursaries reflect the credit union’s community involvement and commitment to supporting academic success, said a press release.

The Desjardins Ontario Credit Union bursaries will allow young people to discover their passions and make their dreams a reality.  

The credit union is very proud to recognize these inspiring students contributing to the economic and social well-being of their community, the press release said.
